Behind the scenes: Joe training #boxerswife

These days, I don’t get to see this often. Training time is sacred to the fighters, their coach and their team. But on the days that I can stop by for a quick visit, it reinforces my respect for what they do, and what they all do it for.

Everyone’s fight is different. You could never truly understand a fighter’s journey unless you fight. And you can never understand what it takes unless you get up every day and do what they do. Most people think it’s for the money and the fame. Those people have no idea what a fighter’s life is like, and what the family that is behind them endures. And that’s okay, because it’s never about them. It’s about something way bigger.

Watching Him side by side of His Coach as they end the day’s sparring session, and prepare for the next one, I am overwhelmed with joy for Him. In all that He puts himself through in order to travel this path and achieve His goal. It’s so much easier to quit, but that’s never an option to Him, no matter how hard the day was. He fights for something way greater than what’s seen. And His dreams are achieved far away from those shiny lights.
