The fifth human: 1st doctor’s visit

I chose a practice in Brooklyn based on it’s in house midwife availability.  I was very hopeful that I’d find a midwife who would tell me that VBAC after 2 cesareans was totally and safely possible considering they were 10+ years ago. However, things didn’t quite go as I imagined

My daughter joined me on this visit, and we were so happy to not only hear the heart beat but to see the baby on its’ first sonogram. It already looks like a baby! We saw it wriggling around, and the technician said all looks and sounds healthy. That was definitely a sweet surprise.

While meeting with the Mid-wife and after going through all the questions and answers, I was told that they would not attempt a VBAC and I would be transferred to the Obstetrician for all prenatal care and a scheduled c-section. Disappointed. But at this point, I am grateful to be having a human growing inside of me and I want to ensure that all is safe for both of us. So VBAC it is.

We are 14.5 weeks. And your due date is September 30th, 2016 – My Birthday.
